Combat Arts for Girls
A Man Question from Bruno Dias

Hey James, I got a question on the topic:

Baron Von Crags’ Scion

Would you recommend teaching combative arts to a girl, for self-defense purposes. If so, then, how would you do it?

I have a 2 year old little sister. I fear for her future, and I know that not me or my father would be around her 100% of the time. Also, I want her to have a chance against the feral girls of the one of the schools she'll probably end up going.

-Bruno Dias

Bruno, as a coach I like going with a person’s strength. We must also be practical about what is available. Here is what I would recommend as a chronological priority list for a girl.

1. Playing catch with a ball, not so much soccer, but developing hand-eye coordination is a necessary baseline.

2. Boxing for dealing concussions to the feral girls. Have her punching your hand from the earliest age. Among girls, more so than boys, she who can punch is an exception to be feared.

3. Grappling for dealing with all comers in various situations. Just find the best source available for yourself and work with her.

4. Stick-fighting for dealing with packs of feral females.

5. Knife-fighting, for dealing with men.

Bruno, most importantly, an older brother has enormous influence upon a girl and you will be in a better position to encourage her to be prepared than your father. I have found that the encouragement of an older brother motivates a girl or woman more than that of a father, mother or sister.

It might be better to have her hit a mitt than an empty hand. The mitt will tell her when she hits it just right.

I tried very hard to get my one athletic girl into wresting using rhonda rousey as the model. No dice- it was, like, too weird! Too bad, of all my children, she inherited the largest dose of sociopathic killerness.

Get her into fencing. Sounds like a knife girl to me.

Should we introduce him to Erin?

We should, if he ever comes to America. Bruno lives in Brazil.
