In the retail environment, any item that is pocketable and has a record of walking out the door will get put behind glass. This evolution can be seen from suburban markets where only electronics and medications are kept behind glass, to the ghetto market, where most of the merchandise is kept behind glass.
I have it from a reliable source, that the CVS, in upscale South Baltimore, where there has been an increasingly unreported Dindu crime wave—including a gang of teens using a knife to rob an 8-year-old paleface—that, although the condoms are still on open display, the extra large condoms are now kept behind glass!
In my neighborhood, this size selection are sold one at a time from an open bowl on the counter, next to the hand of the large Pakistani man, who has his other hand under the counter…
Well Simon—and thanks for the heads up—this might be good news for the hipster mudsharks that surely prowl the dysgenic shallows of the SOBO night.

I just had a brilliant idea. Make a store where EVERYTHING is behind glass. Only have terminal touch screens where you could browse the stores contents and a rotating heavy box that gives you the stuff AFTER you pay for it. Cover every inch of the store with tear gas nozzles, retractable taser sticks and have armored retractable supply doors that Armoured delivery trucks resupply into.

The front glass of the terminals I'm sure would be busted regularly but spraying with skunk juice, tear gas and tasered ever time this happens would hold this sort of vandalism down.

I'm wondering James just how much could you save if you dropped theft to zero? You could lower floor space dramatically by building up and you wouldn't need parking, just drive through.
