“ST CATHARINES, Ont. - A drug causing havoc and death in other parts of Canada appears to have made its way to St. Catharines. Niagara Regional Police officers Monday seized a bag of powder believed to be carfentanil. Carfentanil is 100 times more potent than fentanyl and is commonly used to tranquilize elephants.”

“Among the key findings:
■Of the overdose victims, 67% were white, 24% were black and 6% were Hispanic.
■Of the victims, 61% were men and 39% were women.
■Heroin was the most commonly occurring drug found in toxicology reports, appearing in 39% of reports in the four-year span.
■The majority of white heroin-related deaths occurred between ages 20 and 39, while the majority of black heroin-related deaths occurred between ages 40 and 59.”
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office recently reported that one third of all autopsies it performs are for drug overdose deaths. The average age for a drug overdose death in Milwaukee County is 43.
