Police: Woman, 90, shot after argument over chicken bones

A 90-year-old woman is recovering tonight after she was wounded in a shooting police believe started with an argument over chicken bones.

City police said the shooting took place Saturday on Harlem Avenue in west Baltimore. Police on Monday released surveillance video of persons of interest in the case.

Investigators said a man and woman were walking down the street, eating chicken and throwing the bones in people's yards. The 90-year-old woman told them to pick up their trash, and others nearby also got involved in the argument.

The couple left and police believe the man came back with a gun. A 55-year-old man was also injured and the woman suffered a graze wound.

“The fact that we're talking about a 90-year-old female who has every right to say to a young person walking down a street to clean up their trash is sad,” Baltimore police spokesman Chief T.J. Smith.

Anyone with information regarding the man and woman seen in the surveillance video is asked to call police at 410-396-2221 or 1-866-7LOCKUP.
