James, what do you think about this for training do you think this has much value.
-Big Ron
Vasyl Lomachenko is a genius boxer who has, in this video, adapted an ancient Hellenic boxing training method to modern materials. Ball playing had two purposes in the ancient world:
something to do with your women at a picnic
handball training for boxers and panrkratiasts.
An ancient palaestra had numerous specialists on staff, including a handball coach.
Many handball drills can be done to help with boxing, particularly bareknuckle defenses. Lomachenko is doing a variation on Oscar The Golden Boy's ping pong ball binocular vision focus drill.
Try this ancient drill with a tennis ball. Play catch or wall ball without using your thumb, by keeping your thumb against the forefinger like you would when parrying or checking.
