Austin Serial bomber switches MO, uses tripwire in 4th attack

Civil War Update.
The Austin serial bomber changes his tactics. Is this the work of an Islamic jihadist? An anti-Trump ‘resistance’ fighter? A psychotic crank like the notorious George Metesky, NYC’s ‘Mad Bomber’ or Ted Kaczynski, the ‘Unabomber’? All of the above?
It is evident that the 24-7 media coverage of these terroristic attacks perpetrated against the public is inspiring copy cat crimes across the land. Austin TX is a very left-leaning community, what with the University of Texas (over 51,000 students and some 14,000 faculty and staff) and all the organs and bureaucracy of the state government being located therein. Such places tend to attract more than their fair share of alienated weirdos nursing some grievance against society at large.
The irony is that over all violent crime rates are way down from when they peaked in the 1980’s. The crime that is happening nowadays tends to be highly localized. For example, 25 per cent of the total shootings in America in recent years are occurring in just four cities: Chicago, Baltimore, Detroit and Washington D.C. In most counties in the country there are often no murders at all in any given year. The U.S.A is simultaneously the most peaceful and one of the most violent countries in the world, depending on which part of the country you are talking about. Nevertheless these shootings and bombings targeting schools and other public venues of late are feeding on themselves and inspiring similar attacks. Fortunately most of these attacks are being thwarted. Bombings and arson have actually been at least as common in American history as mass shootings, perhaps even more so (see some noteworthy examples below). So even if the U.S. government could somehow impose an 'Australian solution’ on the country and effect a similar mass confiscation of privately owned semi-automatic firearms, all that would happen is that bombings and arson attacks would increase.
“Speaking of bombs, here is one other thing you might find interesting. Do you know that there has been at least one suicide bombing on US soil? In my “Unthinkable” class two weeks ago, I mentioned this particular suicide bombing. Most of the students had never heard of the event. The terrorist made three attempts to enter a football stadium, but was denied entry each time because he didn’t have a ticket and his backpack was too large. He blew himself up (unknown whether accidentally or intentionally) outside the stadium.”

“Those of you who have taken my “Response to a Terrorist Bombing” class might remember how I discussed that in worldwide terrorist events, the trend is moving more and more towards combining bombs and guns in the attack. If you find yourself in the middle of a mass shooting, you must be prepared for the coming bomb blasts. If you survive a bomb blast, you must be looking out for people with guns shooting up the evacuation site. That’s simply the reality of modern terrorist attacks worldwide.”

Utah high school student was arrested after he attempted to detonate a large backpack bomb in his school.
George Peter Metesky (November 2, 1903 – May 23, 1994), better known as the Mad Bomber, terrorized New York City for 16 years in the 1940s and 1950s with explosives that he planted in theaters, terminals, libraries, and offices.
Theodore John Kaczynski (/kəˈzɪnski/; born May 22, 1942), also known as the Unabomber, is an American domestic terrorist. A mathematics prodigy, he abandoned an academic career in 1969 to pursue a primitive lifestyle, then between 1978 and 1995 he killed three people, and injured 23 others, in a nationwide bombing campaign targeting those involved with modern technology. In conjunction, he issued a social critique opposing industrialization and advancing a nature-centered form of anarchism.
The Wall Street bombing occurred at 12:01 pm on September 16, 1920, in the Financial District of Manhattan, New York City. The blast killed 30 people immediately, and another eight died later of wounds sustained in the blast. There were 143 seriously injured, and the total number of injured was in the hundreds. The bombing was never solved, although investigators and historians believe the Wall Street bombing was carried out by Galleanists (Italian anarchists), a group responsible for a series of bombings the previous year. The attack was related to postwar social unrest, labor struggles, and anti-capitalist agitation in the United States. The Wall Street bomb killed more people than the 1910 bombing of the Los Angeles Times, which was the deadliest act of terrorism on U.S. soil up to that point. The death toll was exceeded in the Bath School disaster in 1927.
The Milwaukee Police Department bombing was a November 24, 1917 bomb attack that killed ten people including nine members of local law enforcement. The perpetrators were never caught but are suspected to be an anarchist terrorist cell operating in the United States in the early 20th century. The target was initially an evangelical church in the third ward and only killed the police members when the bomb was brought to the police station by a concerned member of the public. The bombing remained the most fatal single event in national law enforcement history for over 80 years until the 9-11 attacks.
The Sterling Hall Bombing that occurred on the University of Wisconsin–Madison campus on August 24, 1970 was committed by four youths as a protest against the university's research connections with the U.S. military during the Vietnam War. It resulted in the death of a university physics researcher and injuries to three others.
The Happy Land fire was an act of arson that killed 87 people trapped in the unlicensed Happy Land social club at 1959 Southern Boulevard in the West Farms section of the Bronx in New York City on March 25, 1990. Most of the victims were young Hondurans celebrating Carnival, many of them part of the Garifuna American community. Unemployed Cuban refugee Julio González, whose former girlfriend was employed at the club, was arrested soon afterward and ultimately convicted of arson and murder.
The 1993 World Trade Center bombing was a terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, carried out on February 26, 1993, when a truck bomb detonated below the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. The 1,336 pounds (606 kg) urea nitrate–hydrogen gas enhanced device was intended to send the North Tower (Tower 1) crashing into the South Tower (Tower 2), bringing both towers down and killing tens of thousands of people. It failed to do so but killed six people and injured over a thousand.
The Oklahoma City bombing was a domestic terrorist truck bombing on the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, United States on April 19, 1995. Perpetrated by Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols, the bombing killed 168 people, injured more than 680 others, and destroyed one-third of the building. The blast destroyed or damaged 324 other buildings within a 16-block radius, shattered glass in 258 nearby buildings, and destroyed or burned 86 cars, causing an estimated $652 million worth of damage.

As Greg Ellfritz said, knife, car, fire and bomb attacks will only increase when we take away guns. Of all these, I'd rather deal with a gunman.

Who knows? The terrorists may move to combined arms by timing a car assault with radio-detonated or timer-detonated bombs. For example, if you can't mow down everyone in a theater, why not just plant a small bomb in a trash can, blow it up, and wait for everyone to come out as they take selfies of their scared selves? As was stated in the other post, the captured bomber bought all the materials he needed at Home Depot.
