Reacting versus Responding

When I began training in Wing Chun under Sifu Arturo Gabriel many years ago, he taught me a valuable lesson in both Wing Chun and in life: There is a distinct difference between reacting and responding. This difference can seem quite subtle at first, but when we take a closer look we can see that it is always much better to respond than to react when involved in an altercation.
