Sterotypes Exist for a Reason
Because They’re Observably True! A Doctor Dread Monologue

Stereotypes exist for a reason, because they are observably true! There is always the exception to prove the rule. I understand that.
Doctors for instance hold to stereotypes. For instance among medical professionals there is a stereotype about Orthopedic Surgeons, that we are fucking Neanderthals! And guess what, it’s true. We didn’t stay in for all of the complex medical chemistry. We want to cut on you—I’m a fucking bone mechanic, for God’s sake. If that hip is compromised I’m ready to amputate that think and install something that works.
I’m a “she’s hot, me fuck,” kind of guy. I tell nurses in the O.R. all the time that it’s their natural inclination to want me to hit them over the head and drag them off to my cave. And you know what, they giggle in that agreeable way. Which leads me to other medical stereotypes about nurses. O.R. nurses like to fuck, they will fuck you. They will also suck your dick and swallow. And I know, I’ve dated a lot of nurses. Now pediatric nurses, they’ll blow you, even on the first date, but they aren’t swallowing.
A dude in a hooded sweatshirt approaching you at night in fair weather, I don’t care what color he is, that’s the truest stereotype that he is up to no good.
The fact that our entire society is now aligned to deny our natural, God-given powers of pattern recognition is patently obscene and speaks to something deeper and darker in society.

Re: Nurses and the OR, game-aware men are aware that plenty of nurses exhibit the slut-tells; more importantly, the OR nurses are around death so much that they need instant relief. Go forth and volunteer at Shock Trauma lads...infact, if you search the Chateau (heartiste.wordpress.com/) there's archived discussion about this very subject.

Through crypsis, ingroup solidarity can be maintained while a campaign of social atomization is prosecuted to stymie rival outgroup formation. Divide et impera, to the tune of "We're all individuals, members of the human race."

It's true about orthopedic surgeons. I hang with one and he played football in high school and is a jock. At his house, he had a replacement hip ball laying around. I asked him, "Do you just drill a hole in the femur and pound this thing in?" He smiled and nodded. His wife is hot too.

Funny stories! Indeed, stereotypes persist precisely because they ARE true and accurate more often than not. It is, as you say, pattern recognition. That is what the highly successful Marine Corps Combat Hunter program was all about: recognizing patterns in human behavior so one could better detect the anomalies in the daily pattern that were 'tells' of an impending insurgent attack. Thereby staying 'left of bang' on the event timeline. One of the dichotomies of human behavior is that while we human beings are prone to over-generalize about other people, we strongly object when other people over-generalize about us. A sure way to get someone's hackles up is to begin the conversation by saying 'you always' or 'you never'. If you think about it nobody 'always' or 'never' does anything. The behavior pattern you detect in a person might be true and accurate, but limited solely to a certain situation in which you interact with the other person. For example, foreigners would often comment to me that they would see American tourists eating off of each other's plates at restaurants, which struck them as odd. I would point out to them that while true that is only behavior Americans engage in when traveling in foreign countries and eating unfamiliar foods. Then Americans will often offer to give their traveling companions a taste of some unfamiliar foreign dish they ordered. If you try to eat off of someone else's plate inside America though you are liable to get hit. Except of course in the case of a woman on a dinner date. Then frequently the woman will order something very small and light for herself, but will eat half of her date's meal.
