"After the uprising of the 17th of June
The Secretary of the Writers' Union
Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee
Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government
And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier
In that case for the government
To dissolve the people
And elect another?"
- Berthold Brecht, German Playwright, 1953
“Republicans: Money! Money! Money! Dems: Voters! Voters! Voters!”
Automation makes immigration obsolete. In another ten to twenty years all these refugee workers will be replaced with robots. It is already happening in China and India. But corporations in the USA will be clamoring for cheap refugee/immigrant labor right up to the moment they replace them all with robots, then they will be somebody else’s lookout to care for. The Democrat Party wants to import ever more impoverished and unskilled immigrants from the third world because they want to create a permanent poor and dependent underclass who they will be able to rely on to always vote Democrat and hand them control of the country. The white working class wasn’t reliable enough in the regard so the Democrats decided to ‘elect a new people'.
Global corporations want refugee workers, then cut the BS about humanitarianism

“Behold the Cloward-Pivening of the West: operating under the false flags of "diversity" and "tolerance," and demanding that post-Christian West "live up to its own book of rules" (Alinsky Rule #4), the cultural Marxists seek to destroy the political integrity of the European and the North American nation-states by flooding them with "migrants" (to where?) and "refugees" (from what?).”

I actually don't believe robots will displace workers in the Western sphere. Robots are capital-intensive and labor is super-abundant and not organized. In the next recession, people will lower expectations further. It's unlikely that capilal spending will rise with a surfeit of desperate workers.
In Japan, Methuselah the Farmer will get iRobot to help, but that's a country determined to stay a nation.
I agree with the rest of the nightmare scenario. Electing a new people by which to destroy the old.
Bob; robots have already replaced millions of workers. A regular paper mill here in sweden used to have around 400 workers it it was medium sized. Now 6 workers can manage it all with computers.
Same thing with car factories, pretty much everything that concerns factories, economic things etc. The computer truly changed everything. Things have become much more effective, whilst the state have become bigger.

That graph is from 1980, gov jobs is now at least more than half I reckon.
@ Jacob:
Sure, those are capital-intensive industries with skilled or semi-skilled workers, often unionized and often demanding high wages for dirty, dangerous work, and so investing to reduce strikes, cut labor costs made sense. The Indian radiologist reading the MRI from the NYC clinic makes sense, too.
But I mean a lot of the crappy, minimum-wage work today I don't see disappearing. I just think real wages will down. I can't see the Mexican gardener becoming R2D2 anytime soon. (But I might be wrong!)
Buying a robot lawn mover is around 400$ for the cheaper units, regarding wages. Wages have been down a cliff since the late 60's, they have just tricked us to make us believe we arent fucked.
