Mister Bob sent this video in and five things are made glaringly apparent:
-1. The lack of good slashing strokes, with no draw
-2. Lack of decisive chopping strokes, chops must be shock attacks, not probing attacks
-3. That coats are an effective anti-knife armor. The primary reason for European combat troops being armed with thrusting blades in WWI and WWII was the need to puncture clothing, secondarily the need to remove sentries with base of the brain stabs. The shop owner’s blade would be ideal for lightly attired combat.
-4. Lack of effective thrusts with the blade suited for thrusting.
-5. A pervasive and all-inhibiting fear is the primary factor in both men’s behavior.
The butcher knife in the hand of the robber is the basis for many hybrid fighting knife designs, such as the Bowie, and is used to menace at first, then stab, then slash and is used too tentatively in each instance to be effective.
If the shopkeeper would have pass-slashed while the robber was on the counter and come around immediately, his resolution would have been far more satisfactory. Of course, such strokes require training and cannot be executed by the untrained.
The spirit of the shop owner was impressive and the defensive sense of the attacker once the tables were turned, was very acute. He’s a survivor.
The attacker should have hurdled the counter using his left arm and leg as pivot points and then checked the defender with his left hand before stabbing or threatening.
Both combatants demonstrated female-levels of bio-mechanical aptitude and positively sissy fear of the blade. Mentally they were each stuck in an unarmed against a knife mindset. If one of these men would have behaved like he had a knife and the other did not, he would have been quickly and decisively effective.

Would it have made sense for the store owner to attack the robbers foot (an ice pick through the foot or possibly take a couple toes in this manner? Or possible slash saw through the Achilles tendon) or is that just daydreaming on my part? Also as far as money goes...Would it have made more sense for the store owner to toss the money on the counter say between the robbers legs so that they would be forced to look down for a second while picking it up thus creating an opportunity to cut the piece of shits head off?
You make this stroke as pass slash instead of an ice pick into the foot so that you move past the stroke zone as you cut. If he reads it, you could be screwed. But these guys didn't have a read on each other. At this level of fear the guy who just goes for broke gets it.
If the guy dropped his head forward as a result of the stroke then you take him from behind and hamstring him, or a reach around liver stab or shove it up his ass.
A short lead pipe might have been a better winter weapon for the proprietor.
Alternatively, he could have gone American Psycho.
"Not the prettiest knife in the drawer, these bone choppers are big, blunt, and heavy for good reason – they can give, and take, a pounding". Quite so.

A girlfriend three years back was so exited to meet me that she did a search and came up with this guyand she was a French teacher. Than she found a pic of the patriarch with a lady of color and said, "It's a shame I'm white."
