I’ve said this before, but both groups are composed of the kind of people who get into screaming matches over parking spots at the grocery store.

The leader of Patriot Prayer is Joey Gibson, who seems much more concerned with getting media attention than anything else. He is allegedly making a run for Congress. I don’t trust him one iota, he cloaks himself in moralizing Christianity, and really seems to be just a minor league shit stirrer.

The antifa fucks we have out here are vast in number, with the majority of the city at least sympathetic to their cause. I have had personal dealings with one or two of these folks, and I don’t buy the idea that they’re paid agitators. There are enough crazies here, there’s no need to pay to bus them in. The general sense I get is that most of them are college educated idiots who work in the service industry, underachieviers who blame their lot in life on the vast right wing conspiracy that they learned about in college and television. There seems to be a few lower class and homeless types who are more than happy to get their hands dirty, once again we see the lower class doing the dirty work for those born to relative wealth......strangely enough I do not believe there are any blue collar working class types associated with antifa, even here in Portland, the truck drivers and construction workers, welders and factory men seem to be the ones with the most realistic view of this whole manufactured conflict we see playing out. They’re also too busy and tired from working to go out and play make believe revolutionary. Maybe that’s just me...

Didn’t look that massive. What do all those clips add up to? 90 seconds? One round? Two? What’s the body count? If all political street violence was a team would it make the murder-bowl rankings? Would it even make the charts?

It’s no contradiction of Tony Cox’s point to suggest that at least a few people there (on either or both sides) might be somehow connected with some level of government, either as confidential informants or trained observers if not full-on agent provocateurs.

The NBC Evening news report I saw ID’d the right wing org by it’s particular name but spoke of Antifa as ‘loosely organized.’ I couldn’t help but think of Alinsky’s rules for radicals, and the rule about identifying and isolating the target. The report also had some strange line about the political conversation failing ‘to use it’s inner voice’ (if I heard that correctly). What did that mean? inner voice? What is this Harry Potter? Anyway I wonder if it’s some sort of psy op ‘loosely’ coordinated with lame stream media to set up some false dichotomy or re-framing of the issues. Like look for someone to say something like, ok, all extremists stand down and you’re no longer allowed to participate. (And we, the left and Facebook Google ABCNBCCBS will decide who is and who is not an extremist thank you very much.) By the way James, hasn’t a major media business entity recently sort of cut you out based possibly on your political cultural views?

"...both groups are composed of the kind of people who get into screaming matches over parking spots at the grocery store..."

I'm sure you're 100% correct. It does give me great joy to see people fighting back against the AntiFa. I have no doubt that if they had no push back they would just become more and more obnoxious until fighting them would be unavoidable anyways so might as well have some roughnecks whacking them a little. Make them think about it. I see the AntiFa as bullies that attack people in groups. Some of these guys I've seen you can tell they've been trained to rush people in packs, attack then rush off and hide in the crowd.

As per Tony's point, the Frankfurt School arose after communist strategists realized the working class was by nature conservative and traditionalist and would not rise up in bloody revolution.

I think these preannounced rallies show bad strategy. Antifa is just a prop, the real player is MSM/government and their backers, and they need Antifa images they can edit, spin, and narrate.

Better would be the Génération Identitaire model: no prior public announcements, blitzkreig events and monopoly media footage to release on Internet. Exclude MSM from the loop.

Revel in your strengths: humor and fun, agility, underdog status, imagination and small numbers.

The Right doesn't need to concentrate on substance (their strength) but on form, which the Left has in spades.

This is essentially a battle for hearts and minds in a world of mediated reality.

Via the NYPD, this might be a better video —definitely for an analysis of tactics but maybe also for social commentary purposes.

Am I seeing a ‘Proud Boy’ tactical tendency of first going for some sort of Muy Thai clench control over the opponent’s head and neck?

There’s no doubt that certain institutions are giving support to antifa. The local city leaders have given them their blessing off the record, but besides that, the SEIU holds workshops for them on street fighting tactics, plastering flyers all over town advertising said workshops. The different socialist groups that coordinate these folk’s actions have tentacles leading back to the usual suspects. Remember, SEIU were the thugs going around beating people up at the tea party rallies some years back.
Jeremy Bentham     Oct 16, 2018

“The poor on the borderline of starvation live purposeful lives. To be engaged in a desperate struggle for food and shelter is to be wholly free from a sense of futility. The goals are concrete and immediate. Every meal is a fulfillment; to go to sleep on a full stomach is a triumph; and every windfall a miracle. What need could they have for ‘an inspiring super individual goal which could give meaning and dignity to their lives?’ They are immune to the appeal of a mass movement.”

“There is perhaps no more reliable indicator of a society’s ripeness for a mass movement than the prevalence of unrelieved boredom. In almost all the descriptions of the periods preceding the rise of mass movements there is reference to vast ennui; and in their earliest stages mass movements are more likely to find sympathizers and support among the bored than among the exploited and oppressed.”

-Eric Hoffer, The True Believer

No Tony, it’s not just you. In the past many eminent men have likewise noticed that there tends to be more spoiled rich kids among the ranks of the Marxist revolutionaries than there are working class members of the ‘proletariat’ said Marxists claim to be fighting to liberate. As you say the proles are too preoccupied with working for a living to participate in frivolities like street protests. And God bless them for showing up for work each and every day and making sure that the routine things we rely on happen routinely.

Tony,

Those workshops sound like a great way to get free training and intel at the same time. Just wear your CCCP t-shirt and you'll have 'em eating out of your hand.

C. Collins,

there are cameras everywhere. Always wear a hooded jacket of some sort!

Looks like the guy in the beginning grabbed the top of the Antifa's hood. That's one of the drawbacks of hoods.

Here are 3 ways to break the clinch. If only Rich Franklin mastered these techniques before fighting Anderson Silva:
