Sam Quinones writes beautifully, with the spirit of the poet, the insight of an experienced life and the fact-finding instinct of the now nearly extinct investigative journalist. Dream Land is a heart-rending deconstruction of the deconstruction of Caucasian America. The downfall of Ghostkind goes something like this:
-A decades long study of opiate use in hospital settings found that only 1 in 20,000 and more hospital patients from the 1960s and 70s developed an addiction. Pharmaceutical companies take that paper, use it as evidence that opiates are not addictive then develop opiates that are highly addictive and pressure market these drugs to doctors and pain sufferers across the nation.
-A small rural enclave in Northwest Mexico, to which migrant men return from working in the restaurant and drug trade, spawns the idea of marketing drugs like pizza. The basis for this black tar heroin operation is like so:
-1. Target towns without gangs, which means small to mid-sized majority Caucasian cities
-2. Do not sell to blacks in order to avoid violence and the need to arm up and enforce autonomy of action, thus the prohibition against dealing with blacks obviates the need to form a gang and come under police scrutiny
-3. Use junkies in one town, to set up a junky-based distribution network in their home town
-4. Use discount marketing, giving free dope on Sunday, half-priced dope on holidays etc.
-5. Customer service is king, with Xalisco boys even bringing in groceries and delivering dope to housebound customers.
Not only did Quinones go to Mexico and interview Xalisco men there, he scored medical interviews, junky interviews and police interviews, which left him one blind spot in his narrative, the fact that dope traffic is facilitated in rural and urban areas by police cooperation and that cops often run dope rings. However, one can understand the author not going down that rabbit hole and betraying the moral confidence of the square cops he interviewed.
The human side of the opiate plague is covered with interviews of survivors and family members of dead addicts and, what to this reader’s taste, was too deep a dive into the life of the Mexican traffickers, who I’m simply not interested in as people. These characters are sketched with utmost sympathy by their near-advocate biographer yet come off as all the more vapid and unsympathetic peasant pawns in the game of mass mind-killing that is obviously, from the revelations in Dream Land, an international, for-profit war against the American soul, a war waged as effectively and mercilessly as the Opium Wars of the early 1800s which pitted the dope-pushing British against the Chinese, the greatest nation in the world, effectively drugged into mass slumber, only to awaken 200 years later, as another, greatest nation in the world falls prey to the poppies of Morpheus.

I took over a rehearsal space in San Francisco many years ago. There was an ancillary business there and a lot of customers. The dope came from Khun Sa's operation in the Iron Triangle area of Southeast Asia. (google it, pretty fascinating stuff). The Thai 4 heroin was shipped to Taiwan where it was loaded into the duffle bags of The Flying Tigers group which still exists or did then, back in the 80s. The Tigers duffle bags had diplomatic immunity. The product was whisked away to the Fairmont Hotel near Union Square to be divvied up among the various concerned parties. This was just one of my products and connections. I have a long story of other involvements, even more amusing in other ways. My coke dealer was SFPD and even took me into the evidence room on numerous occasions for product. I was a rock musician.....I got up to a grand a day on China White....never get high on your own supply. I had no great downfall to speak of, no moral comeuppance. I finally just quit and got out of the biz.

Contacts in the military say that most opiates trafficked by the Mexicans are coming from Afghanistan. Opium doesn't grow well in Mexico so it's too hard to make a profit. It's also not illegal in most countries like Afghanistan.
We should ponder how the Mexicans made contacts in Afghanistan. We should also consider that many cops come from the Army and Marine Corps.
In "the Godfather," one of the heads of the five families said they only sold dope to blacks and not white people. "They're animals anyways, so let them lose their souls!" Now the situation is reversed. The blacks are simply too much trouble (the Chinese may discover this in Africa).
But whites - are we like animals now? We're told from grade school we evolved from a common ancestor of modern monkeys. I guess we're acting like it now.
I have military men tell me that heroin is coming straight back from the Stan to Virginia, Delaware and Maryland bases, making Baltimore #1 in heroin with zero meth. One veteran assigned in Pakistan said he saw corporate jets loaded from Big Pharm flying out with Afghan heroin. It is obvious why we are there, U.S, service men dying so our young people can commit slow suicide.
Re Iron Triangle, I think in Lyndon LaRouche refers to the area as the Golden Tringle in Dope Inc. It would be interesting to understand these ratlines from Stan to .Mil using Gulfstream's to funnel Dope into the coffers of cartels, 3 letter agency rouges, ect right into the streets. Obviously, its been going on for quite awhile.

Dope is definitely coming in from Afghanistan. There is loads of evidence out there that the U$ timed the invasion to get the poppies in the ground on time. 2 crops a year. Some also say that without the illegal drug trade the U$ would go tips up bankrupt in a matter of months. I've tried the Afghan 4 a few years ago. Not bad. TRW is on point about the Golden Triangle. I think I misspoke......you all know why....lol.
