Neighbors in Knettishell and LRV:
I was in court last week and watched a case where a man broke into a home in our neighborhood in the wee hours of the morning via the small kitchen window next to the back door.
He cut the screen and reached in to unlock and turn the back doorknob.
The homeowner confronted him and was shot. The children and their mother were upstairs sleeping.
In early fall and in the spring, a lot of us open the back kitchen window to get a cross breeze. Please be aware that it is a good idea to close and lock that window when leaving the house and going to bed at night.
The home owner who was shot did recover but has lasting injuries.
Turns out the invader stole a bunch of Nikes...

The construction of the above back porches in that area permit easy access through two windows and a door for any one standing on the porch and having a gloved or shirt-wrapped hand to break the glass with.
The incident above will never be reported on news media, only on social media, which remains the one reason to continue using local social media platforms, as a listening post. I wired this lady's back porch in when she could not afford security door and bars and I hope she remains safe in her birdcage from what prowls the invasion zone.
Yes, yes, we are supposed to buy a mansion and move—I know...
And they are getting reinforcements all over the county.

In the future, and for the most part as we read and write, men will not be permitted to defend their families with weapons. Since this woman was acting as a patriarch, perhaps she shall be spared persecution. Home owners will need to develop egress denial and obstruction methods unlikely to harm the sainted intruder, who is a government-backed paramilitary and will be avenged by the state if he is injured. Renters can set up alarm systems, like loose bottles on window sills and porches to make noise and warn them so that they might evacuate the residential kill box. Do realize, that for a man in Post POZ Murica, that definitive self-defense will mean cop avengers swooping in. Decide in advance whether or not DBC ascension is an option according to your metaphysics, because it will be available.

There is an awesome book, I think called "The Axe Man" about a murderer in New Orleans that pretty much used the same ruse to bludgeon people to death in their own homes...........loads of them. They were connected to an Italian underground crime syndicate...like the Godfather kind of thing. Check it out.

They can pass all the laws they want to this effect, but the basic duty of government is to provide order. If it becomes illegal to defend yourself, and if the government keeps enabling crime, people will defend themselves anyway and bury criminals in their backyard or feed them to pigs. This will be the end of modern police forces as conceived-of by the Metropolitan Act and copied throughout the West.
BTW, most cops are not at all happy with the new war on self-defense because it's negatively affecting them as well.

It seems that persons will come to understand this in the coming years resulting in far fewer phone calls to the authorities and more ditches dug.
