If you are interested in the Islamist question you should find this brief article to be helpful reading. But that is not why I posted this heads up in Harm City.
The photo at the head of the article is of a burly bearded man in a gown, looking like hell’s own E.R. physician. The grim figure with heavyweight shoulders and inky black ZZ Top beard hovers over a row of five severed heads on some paved surface next to the base of a stone-faced building. This might be indoors or outdoors, a hallway, street, alley or court. I suppose it does not much matter to the five hombres at his feet.
In his hand is not a machete, sword, bowie knife or $200 tactical folder, but what looks like my Grandma’s favorite mid-sized kitchen knife; not the butcher knife but the one that looked like an oversized pruning knife.
I have seen a Mexican video of a man decapitating a living woman with a simple pocket knife. For many millennia our runty ancestors butchered large wild animals with small stone and obsidian blades.
I suggest this photo as a reality check for the tactical knife gurus who claim that ordinary blades lack utility, armchair eugenicists who believe that Middle Easterners are some weak expression of a scrawny gene pool, and the liberal intellectuals and politicians who believe that ‘gun control’ is a viable method of reducing violence.
