The scene that got me was the clothing and weapons on sale in a Kabul bazaar from every invading European army since 1873! Obviously the UK has more than enough risk addicted reporters to go around. I don’t think a few missing heads are going to put a dent in the British war documentary industry.
The life of the individual contractors reminds me very much of the book Hell’s Highway, by a former British special ops soldier, down to the contractors’ preference for AK-47s over the weapons issued by their American employer.
I did know going into this that for every U.S. serviceman in Afghanistan there were 2 mercenaries. I did not know about the small army of Chinese slave girls being pimped out of brothels in Kabul to satisfy these visiting ambassadors of Western piety. The cherry on the top of this bloody sundae is the interview with Jack, one of those rare Americans with a sense of history, and a character to boot.
