Okay, according to the MTA this was probably at the Mondawmin station, which is right next to where Miss Ezz works at Cheap Guys R’ Us, often featured in my Ghetto Grocer articles.
First to the important aspect of this incident: it was filmed by Diana Benbow, an ebony babe who I have viewed a few times from the comfort of my seat aboard the #22 and #8. She has a long waist, smells very nice, and apparently squeezes her petite self into her jeans while they are wet. Good work Diana. If you need a safe house while the heat is blowing over after your fine bit of video journalism the room above mine is for rent—but free to you I think. What can I say, I’ve got connections Boo.
Now onto the ancillary matters.
People were actually surprised that no one stepped up to help. Look, these are black kids, they either belong to a gang, in which case their older set members will avenge them, or they are innocent unarmed teens whose mother probably works for the city government and will sue your ass off. I have watched dozens of gang attacks on individuals and have never leant a hand.

Once when getting off the #44 bus I thought I was being attacked by three kids, but before I could slash the big kid’s nuts off with my razor he was beating a kid that had been standing next t me. So I said to myself, “Wew, not me,” folded the razor back up, and went about my business.
Look, if someone grabbed one of these kids they would be committing a violent crime against a minor. A cop who grabbed one of these kids would go under review!
These Brits—obviously progressive socialists—profess to be in shock that this man, who did successfully defend himself, did not call the police. Okay, the guy looks to be about my age—in his fifties maybe. I get hassled by cops—got threatened by one last night in fact, while I was working in a grocery store—at least 1 time per year, and I’m a member of the Master Race. A black man in Baltimore who is not a preacher or a government worker will be beaten or arrested randomly by cops on average once per decade. That means this guy has probably had cops do this to him 4 times—and much more effectively—where these punks have probably only been beaten once each by cops. He has more reason to hate the cops than they.

Also, the subway in Baltimore is very limited, and basically goes nowhere. Most of this stuff happens at bus stops. My best guess is the motivation for this attack was that the man previously defended himself against one of these punks and a third party who was somewhere out in the ghetto watching the blood drip from his nose onto the pavement. Revenge for a successful defense is the most common reason for such a public attack in Harm City.
10/16/14, Update: A friend just informed me that this altercation was based on the youths objecting to the man holding the door for another passenger.
The bright light here is the video posted on social media by a citizen. This will eventually be outlawed, and people like my future roommate who take the publishing of potential evidence into their own delicate hands, will be arrested and charged. But for now, we can enjoy technology permitting us to bi-pass the media filers, for this would never get on TV first, or make the paper in Baltimore, if a citizen had not put it out there first.
It's interesting from a voyeuristic point of view; however, I'm inclined to agree with you James that it is hardly news that civilians in the major American urban centers are prone to be reluctant to come to the aid of any individual who is unfortunate enough to be attacked in public. After all, this year is the 50th anniversary of the Kitty Genovese murder in Queens NY. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Kitty_Genovese. FYI: Massad Ayoob gives an excellent analysis of that sad case in the NOV/DEC 2014 issue of American Handgunner. Ayoob makes a salient observation that is as lost on the Liberal press today as it would have been back then: "Unarmed people are largely helpless to stop violent armed criminals and they know it". Likewise bystanders will be reticent to intervene in an altercation such as this one for all the reasons you mentioned James, and then some.
One thing that does puzzle me though is that since middle aged and elderly black people in the inner cities are so relentlessly preyed upon by their own black youth (as in this case), why do these same black people become so upset when one of these young hooligans gets killed fighting with the police? You would think that the very people who suffer the most injury and insult at the hands of these youthful criminals would be glad to see one of their number get his comeuppance from time to time, wouldn't you? But then I suppose I'm just thinking like the jingoistic myrmidon that I am, and therefore will probably never get it.

The dynamic is this. Unemployed welfare mammas actually send their children out hunting employed black adults. If these employed black adults successfully defend they face retaliation from gang members, or worse, Hebrews in suits. The spawn of the welfare mother, by attacking a black person, has a number of factors in her favor. The spawn is expendable and reproducible, and its demise may well enrich the mother of the nest:
1. The type of defender who will successfully defend is likely to have a police record and will not go to the cops. He might be looked upon as a fortified target that will now be treated as an obstacle—like the Germans with the Maginot Line—or escalated against by older relatives or gang associates, like hitting the Belgians with airborne troops.
2. The type of employed defender—perhaps a football coach—who successfully defends, has access to income that is far in excess of what is in his pocket, and hence ready grist for the litigious Hebrew mill.
3. If her grief-seeking missiles are taken down by a cop, she now has a lawsuit against the deepest pocket imaginable—the municipality!
This three part contingency plan is better than making your kid sell drugs, which many welfare mothers do, because the 'chyle' continuous to bring income even after death, unlike incarcerated drug-running spawn. This welfare mother is the spawn of three generations of adults, often still available to form a ready made government subsidized mob of supposed protestors and grief stricken adults as they are born only 15 years apart.
Defender 1 stands off as a neutral.
Defender 2 is branded as a race traitor, or an uncle tom, and ignored by the liberal white press, who do not want him as a neighbor in any case.
Defender 3, the cop, is a government goon who has had to become hyper-aggressive to deal with criminals and never makes a sympathetic defender.
This is really a full proof strategy for engaging the witless liberal media who are among the class of whites who cannot even walk their dog without the threat of police retaliation. The Welfare Mammas know that if there babies attack liberal white women they will not benefit from good press, as the press is an organ sculpted to appeal to the liberal white female in order to insure the vote and enslave the man sleeping on her couch.
The fly in the ointment in this state-subsidized press-enabled criminality is rival ethnic groups, mostly Latino, who always eradicate the black youth thugs on contact. This is a socio-economic war waged by the black mistresses of the Welfare State who hurl their men and boys at the enemy as heartlessly as Stalin hurled his revolutionary guards against Army Group South. Middle aged black criminal men are very rare for this reason. Consider that over a million black guys are in prison and that almost all murders in this nation are murders of black youth by other black youth, all at the command of their matriarchs, and you will understand that the black community is not a community and that blacks will continue to experience little or now population growth in the U.S. despite their heroic breeding rates. They are the expendable foot soldiers of the welfare-state. People like me are caught between them and the uniformed foot soldiers of the police-state.

Ah...I see. So that's where the fault lines within the urban black community lie. Fascinating! To the outside observer the black community is a paradox. It appears to be monolithic like the "Borg" and at the same time at war with its self. The thing us outsiders can see for certain is that The Woman endeavors to maintain the black community as a reliable monolithic voting block with promises of free stuff. I suppose the end game will come about the time the Hispanics become the country's largest minority group. Then the Leftist ruling elite will abandon the black community in favor of the Hispanics as they did the white working class in favor of the blacks. And of course the Hispanic status as the new favored minority will bode ill for the black community since the Hispanic leadership is not motived by "white guilt". And as you observed there is much animosity between the two groups as it is.
Yes Massad Ayoob is one of my favorite gun 'zine writers as well. He's a Renaissance Man in all matters relating to self-defense and police work. He's into guns, knives and the martial arts. I find his articles on self-defense and the law especially interesting and informative. Particularly since so much dangerous misinformation is promulgated on the subject (like drag him inside and put a knife in his hand).
