The world’s best military commander is explored as a person living and striving outside the normal bounds of humanity. This series is a multi-disciplinary exploration of some of the most prolific killers of the ancient world. The cartoon effects are right on point. The narrator is appropriately creepy. The behaving badly psychograph is precious, and the psychologist—okay, I'm drinking Macedonian levels of Canadian beer so cannot recall the spelling—whoever from the University of Maryland, who I should look up, is just right for the job of time travelling shrink to the bloody handed and famous. The series takes the dark view—which brings them in line with my bleak view of humanity. Military historian Mike Ibeji is a blast, with the serrated personality to go with his subject.
I can’t recommend Ancients Behaving Badly enough, and Alex is a good place to start. Incidentally Alexander transliterates as ‘Protector-of-men’, we might want to measure the man against his moniker.
Make sure you check out their Attila the Hun episode, complete with the gruesome archeological evidence unearthed in Hungry.
