Rather note his disintegration towards the end, when he, a committed bleeding heart crusading liberal, who bought the liberal/conservative good cop bad cop routine hook line and sinker, begins choking on it. I found Michael to be a very compelling thinker who never developed the ability to emotionally detach from his subject matter, left suffering the torment of the partisan thinker.
In a subtle way this film is brutal.
