Another study has determined that Baltimore is one of the most violent cities in the world. Recall though that such studies use the FBI guidelines on crimes per 100,000. This is a herd’s view of violence, which ignores the fact that predation is targeted and select. In my opinion crimes per square mile would be a better indicator of risk of violence.
But why is Baltimore, Maryland called Harm City, or even Bodymore Murderland?
Would not the fact that Baltimore is one of the most egalitarian cities in America, where the poor receive preferential consideration from the massive Federal, state and local employers, and the ghetto is so awash with welfare money that suburbanites flock into town to buy EBT dollars from welfare recipients at 50% of value to finance NFL parties, keep their sons from falling into violence?
As a resident writer I find value in the violence so might be counted as part of the problem. I can say that Baltimore is safer than our masters would have us believe in terms of gun violence. The greater danger to the citizen not involved in the drug trade is unarmed attacks by criminal youth who are universally regarded as innocent by the press.
