Hey there James, wanted to pass this along to you, get your thoughts on what was going on here:
The warning signs were there, and yet the doctor and the referee did nothing. Why? The level of incompetence here is just staggering (no pun intended).
Did you ever have any experience with bad coaches, shady ringside practices, or anything else of the like? What's your take on this?
Always good to hear from you,
Adam
Okay Adam, this was so incredibly disgusting it boggles the mind.
Bad coaches are a dime a dozen and I expect to see that.
Refs are usually a step up because there are fewer.
The doctors are never supposed to be half this bad. I have never seen that level of neglect from a ringside doctor. The docs are usually so intrusive that the asshole corner men—like this bald douche bag—often get irate. I would say half of low level MMA corner men are negligent when it comes to the health of their fighter, as are about a quarter of low level boxing corner men. Top boxing trainers just don’t behave like the moron in this young man’s corner. I don’t know enough about kick boxing to comment on how common this level of neglect is in that sport.
The thing to note is that the ref paid no attention to the fighter. The ref is supposed to look into the fighter’s eyes when he breaks a clinch after a fighter has been rocked. Look at Tony Weeks refereeing the Klitschko versus Pulev slobber knocker this past weekend. After Pulev was hit hard, even when he was eating the ‘steel hammer’ with aplomb, Weeks was eye-balling him for any sign that he needed to be saved. If a guy has been hit hard or rocked or is unsteady on his feet he is supposed to be watched in clinches, after clinches, when on the ropes, after being hit and not returning fire, when not intelligently defending himself, and in the cornerall of them!
The doctor and the ref both showed total disinterest in this fighter to the point you wonder if they were paid to look the other way by someone who planned his death. The corner man was an incompetent animal who should not be permitted to work a corner again. The ref and the doctor deserve something worse, and the promotion needs to be shut down as they doctored the video.
Any time a fighter staggers like that their neurological system is malfunctioning. That knee when he was already out on his feet was too nasty to watch a second time. Of course there was an obvious criminal conspiracy to cover this up. This type of thing was common in boxing up until the mid 1950s.
