For the most part, since mastering our habitat, we humans spend our energy fussing with each other. That is what I study as a nonfiction author, and mostly what I research for fiction. However, as a speciesist—a hate-filled life form no doubt, denying the rights of salamanders and onions—I am more concerned in the prospect of humans getting off of this planet and onto another. I am currently working on a generation ship story and need to select a destination planet, and this is one of the films I stumbled across in my lunchtime quest.
One planet under discussion in this film, Kepler 22-b, reminds me of the setting for Robert Silverberg’s novel The Face on The Waters.
