Battle Of The ISANDLWNA 》( 1879/01/22 )
This is a very accurate depiction of the infamous battle that well illustrates that Mike and Butch down at Mandawmin could have had it a lot worse. The douche bag quarter master at the ammunition wagon really existed. There were only two of these guys to hand out ammo and one was drunk. The brass straps that needed to be unscrewed by one of the rare screwdrivers were found 90 years later by an author. I think it was the man who wrote The Washing of the Spears.
The Zulus, although victorious, sustained terrible casualties. The Zulu king described the victory as a spear in the belly, and the later failure by a division of the army to take the outpost at Rorke’s Drift [as depicted in the movie Zulu] as a twisting of the spear. The authenticity of the bayonet fighting toward the end lacks in terms of gore and intensity. According to the Zulus the last Brits to fall were some really tough nuts that took a lot of warriors with their bayonets. The Book about the war titled ‘Like Lions They Fought’ used as its title a Zulu saying about the British troops they defeated in this battle.
