'Mister Homophone?'
A Missive from a Put Upon Editor
© 2015 James LaFond
OCT/4/15
James, I have the posted installments of The Consultant edited and have e-mailed them to you in separate attachments with the highlighted corrections. I realize you have a massive output and you have your various little writer demons vexing you, like homonyms, homophones and homographs—all your little price to pay for that astounding imagination, I suppose.
So, I wanted to remind you that you are consistently rendering Abel, the name, as Able, the quality. You might want to watch that as this character is reoccurring and you don’t make corrections to you[r] [I actually changed the spelling of this word from the e-mail on purpose to get D.H. riled up and it worked, so have replaced the ebonic 'you.'] first drafts on the site—which is mind-boggling, but is what it is.
Respectfully,
-D.H.
Author’s Response
I am aware of this and constructed his name as Able to denote his primary characteristic. I realize that Kane did not kill Able, but rather Abel.
Before you bite your lip, I like Kane better than Cain because it’s, well—badass!
The inhabitants of Ceres, which is the largest asteroid in the belt and, in this story, has been engineered as a starfaring vessel, have been conceived, incubated and parented by a computer system. Any surviving Old Testament names are purely coincidental.

Eeeeeeesh!
You are killing me!
You know it’s not just your language and the rest of us get to use it too!
Please, can you put a note in the book, so that I can place this project on my resume with the hope—rather than the dread—that a prospective employer might read it?
James
To your four points above:
Sorry.
Really sorry. [I know it’s not a sentence, but those two words seemed so lonely without a period.]
I had not considered that.
Let it be done, let it be written—posting.
