The Cross Face in Boxing
Tyson Fury vs Steve Cunningham

My first complaint is that the Irish guy is named Tyson Fury and the black guy is named Steve Cunningham!
This is a text book example of how a big man beats a better smaller man. Note that Fury’s height can be a great liability, leaving his chin open. As Cunningham’s trainer says, if a big man is free to use his elbows in there he can beat anybody.
Fury seems to be an obnoxious Irish whigger, and he is not of the best quality in terms of athletic ability, but he is tough and knows how to fight big. Also, his big man style could work against other big men.
Note the KO at the end with the beautifully placed left cross face to right hook, lifting the chin as surely as he punched it, but even better, tightening Steve’s neck and stretching it out instead of just turning his head.
Big men who do not have little man speed should use those elbows and forearms to good effect, which are techniques that will still matter when your jab has been spent.
