The Circle
#35-4 & 5: day, under a minute, eye-witness
At the Circle Bar & Grill [at Dundalk and Eastern, closed now for 30 years] two young men argued over a girl. One pulled a bat from his car and took a swing at the other, who ducked, resulting in the bat striking and denting a car driven by a group of six men. The men swarmed the batter, disarmed him, shoved him to the ground, and stomped him for about 30 seconds. The uninvolved witness took the injured batter to the hospital.
Duke
#46-17: night, under 10 seconds, first person defender
Duke was working the door at a big club in Texas, when “a punk-muthafuca” began hassling one of the waitresses at a table. Duke walked over, leaned on the table, and “asked the boy ta leave.” The punk then picked up a beer glass and swung it overhand, striking Duke across the bridge of the nose with the bottom. Duke’s nose “exploded,” spurting blood from both nostrils. As he lunged for the now fleeing punk, the waitress stepped in front of Duke and held a napkin to his nose. By the time he made it to the front door with the bloody napkin pressed to his nose, the punk was pulling out of the parking lot.
This encounter does have a sequel.
