Astride the Chariot of Night is a collection of miscellaneous stories detailing what happens to one of the main characters(Jay Bracken) in his Sunset saga, a time traveling epic. While part of that saga it does not require any prior reading,(which is the way to do this stuff) and this might be a great place to determine if you can handle the hard-hitting horror/scifi/action work of Mister James Lafond.
Seriously. If you can read this and not be totally repulsed then it is smooth sailing into the extremely violent, politically incorrect,
yet intelligent stories of the author. Once again the strength of the author is his ability to weave dark humor into the proceedings as well as having a handle on the 21st century urban landscape.
Jay travels through time and experiences (and hands out) some of the most heinous acts one can experience. Luckily 24th century genetic engineering can give one a second, third or tenth chance to go through the meat grinder again.
If you are an adherent of the current declining zeitgeist or you actually voted in the last election then stay the hell away from this book or any other of Mister LaFond's work. You won’t like it and he will not care one iota. That warning for some of course will be a high recommendation for others.
If you like a genetically enhanced pseudo redneck who thinks he is an ancient nordic god being horribly treated and then being
set loose to gorily take on all the a-holes of the working/middle/criminal class world, then this book is for you! Hopefully future stories will involve interaction with everyone's favorite 'Urban Elves'.
I believe this is the first Lafond book that has been published using create.a.space. Hurry before they make all this stuff illegal!!
