‘The Golden Child’
Chasing A Killer by Justin Fenton in The Baltimore Sun, 12/27/15
© 2015 James LaFond
DEC/28/15
The lying, nihilistic, leftist rag that tragically passes as the journal of record in Harm City does have one real reporter on its staff. His name is Justin Fenton and he is following two black homicide detectives as they investigate the murder of a black man by two black men which was caught on film and witnessed by a dozen black people in broad daylight, just minutes after one of these detectives pulled away from that very liquor store in Northwest Baltimore during his investigation of a previous shooting.
In our sick world only the shooter is sought for this killing, with the man who set up the victim and diverted his attention as his partner pressed a pistol to the back of his head and blew his brains out perhaps sought as a witness.
The witnesses saw nothing, indeed, did not even scatter or look away as the body was dropped. As the police investigated, the locals displayed irritation with their presence and were displeased with crime scene tape blocking their access to the liquor store.
Even though the victim’s older brother was once duct taped in a basement and blown apart with a shotgun by a known and un-convicted shooter, the grieving mother and family will not cooperate with the investigation.
The mother did receive 100K from The City for the death of her middle son, who attempted to run over a white police officer, who then shoot and killed him.
That is all the family cares about, that white cop.
There is one decent figure in the family, an uncle who has worked his entire life and speaks against drug dealing.
The one police detective knew the oldest brother, and both detectives knew both killers on sight, naming the shooter “The Golden Child” for he is known to have killed four people and has not suffered incarceration or conviction for these killings.
Justin Fenton’s transparent writing style avoids liberal or conservative moralization and permits the reader to search the dark shadows of the sick society that is Black Baltimore on its own terms, even as other Sun staff writers launch a full-on propaganda campaign declaring the helplessness and lack of agency of black youth and men, victimized by drugs, law enforcement, the corrections system, the school system and the racism of whites.
In one of the rare solid news stories out of Baltimore in recent years we seem to be in store for an ongoing litany of this doomed investigation. As Baltimore murders hit 338, the highest per capita rate ever recorded in this sorry city and the highest in this dying nation, Chasing a Killer is a breath of welcome stale air, down to the detail that the murderer used a 1940s revolver, printed in the same issue in which another article claims that Baltimore’s handgun problem is the fault of other states not having strict gun laws like Maryland, heralding a call for federal intervention…
