The video was of training rounds, in which we generally begin working on a specific skill, then try and combine those skills in combination, mindful of defensive concerns [like my hand up by my head] and mix in conditioning spurts. Notice the old guy slashing with shorter strokes to make up for lack of beat [stick intercepting stick] speed, with younger, quicker fighter working on target access, on slash power and exploitation.

At :33-35- reverse inside triangle, with slashes #1, #3, #1. It would seem. to my uneducated self, that these diagonal slashes would be the most effective for the untrained. When you talk about the nervous system is it the goal to hit the side of the head? Sort of around the cheek bone/ear/temple? The top of the head being the hardest part it would be less damaging??? Of course from the side can be blocked by hands. Me guesses that then you go to the ribs to punish them for the brazen act of holding their hands up blocking your slashes.
The video makes it much more clear but by your fine grained terminology I can tell immediately that I'm missing a lot of the fine points.
You go for the ribs really to drop the hands so you can get back to the head, just like in boxing. the premier kill targetthe only real kill location with a light stick is the side of the head, and the back of the head. The back of the head we do not hit as a courtesy.
Written instruction like this are chiefly of value to coaches and instructors like Dave and David, who have the mechanical reference points, and a s supplement for raining. We will try and do more videos of basic stuff.
Perfect! Thanks.
Thanks.
I am asking around for some people who would help me do short videos of stick work, and will hopefully get them up on the site.
