Working with a Sparring Partner
Stick Boxing & Uneven Double Stick
© 2016 James LaFond
FEB/19/16
In this video Sean and I go light—and slow—sparring. He is new to this so his control is also expressed as a lack of aggressiveness. One of the objects he will be working on in the next session is developing controlled aggression. The control aspect mostly has to do with keeping the speed of the stick slow, and braking it on contact. This tires the forearms out sooner than full speed sparring and is safer, a good way to balance out forearm development as you use the extensors more than normal to brake your stroke.
