‘Three-On-One’
Biking Around Lake Montebello
© 2016 James LaFond
FEB/25/16
“A few years ago I was biking around the lake. It was before the improvements, wasn’t as many people there as you find now. I was biking for my conditioning. I can no longer bike around town because of my hearing. I wouldn’t last long on the street. You have to be able to hear the traffic.
“So, I’m doing about twenty-five in the bike lane and there are these three yos walking towards me in the bike lane. The one raises his fist to punch me and a hit the brake, which is a very hairy thing to do at that speed with a bike. I managed to maintain control, stopped, and then turned. They were about thirty feet past me. I figured three-on-one was a fair fight and motioned for them to bring it. But they kept going in the other direction.”
