The Cut Jab Drills
The Best Tactical Use of the Speed bag

Learn the following drills by first learning to work on your angle cutting to his right side, which will require head movement and feints, so put them into the drill. Once you have gotten comfortable with this drill combine it with opposite drill, the Power, Fade to slide jabs to the right side, which is less risky in the ring.
I work these two drills back and forth on the speed bag and it’s a good workout. They both work well on double-ended and reflex bags as well.
Left Cut Jab Drill
1. Blind jab [miss from too far out]
2. Power jab [pronated]
3. Oblique jab [three quarter fist]
4. Safety jab [vertical fist]
Power Option
1. Feint jab
2. Oblique jab
3. Up-jab with a hard pivot
Right Cut Jab Drill
1. Blind jab
2. Power jab
3. Fade jab
4. Slide jab
Use these drills as the basis for building your own. I really prefer these on a speed bag, making sure to target the belly of the bag. For practicing striking the eye with the up-jab I prefer the reflex bag.
