So, I’m hanging round in case it gets physical. I always regard it as an employee’s duty to make sure his boss doesn’t get his ass kicked on the job. Then, and this was the last thing I would have suspected at the time—not yet being educated as to the various hatreds whites hold for one another—the encounter becomes racial!

The Irish guy keeps saying, “You’re not going to Jew me out of my money you motherfucker.”
Then, in his own defense, as if he were a black minister pulling out the race card, my boss said, “You know, I find your words to be insulting. I am Jewish, you know.”
Then the Irish guys says, “Of course you’re Jewish you Jew motherfucker, that’s why your Jewing me!”
You know, once a person takes a hateful stance like that, there’s not a lot of room for negotiation. My boss backed off the price and nothing got physical.
