I tend to use specific music to mask the screaming down the hall as I write, using the same song or album for a given book. For some reason it seems productive to proof a book to the same music it was written. I have listened to this one song almost exclusively while writing the 11 novels in the Sunset Saga.
Audioslave: I Am the Highway
Awesome song...takes me back to my high school days! Where did one such as yourself stumble upon such a sophisticated band?
My former roommate, Ajay, gave me two Audioslave CDs in 2010.
Excellent choice. I've listened to that song a lot and really like it. Here's something I heard watching a series called La Vagabond about this strange guy from Australia who bought a sail boat, not knowing how to sail, and found a girl to sail around the world with him. This was one of the songs they played.

Ever heard of him? He was most popular in your corner of the US.
And speaking of, while Americans watch paint dry on public TV to relax, we here in my neck of the woods have Alpenpanorama. Every morning, two hours of live web-cam footage from the alps accompanied by light instrumental polka music, very relaxing, white noise indeed! Watch and weep:
