My name is Max Velati and I’m 58 years old. I’m a writer (17 books published – not in English you can tell) about History and Philosophy for kids and most of my work is used in schools here in Brazil. I’am also an editorial cartoonist for the biggest newspaper in South America (Folha de São Paulo). But the reason for this contact is my old and true passion for martial arts in general and at this point of my life, boxing in particular. I have over 20 years of fencing and about 4 or 5 of boxing in small clubs. Different from many around here, I like to study the history, the “whys” and “how come” of the Art and that is how I got the chance to know your website. I’m writing just to thank you for sharing such important content and I cannot tell you how much positive difference you are making in these parts. Maybe it is my white hair or the fact that I’ve still got some moves, but a small, but important gym here invited me to help to teach boxing as a Science and Art, showing some sense and strategy behind the moves and not a collection of patterned Pavlovian responses. Because of the invitation that I humbly accepted I started to collect information to learn more and more and the content that you share proved to be a crucial reference for me and for that I thank you, sir.
Please, keep up the good work!
Have a perfect weekend!
Thank you so much for the kind words, Max.
Congratulations on your publishing success.
I must say that your fencing background surely has helped you with the boxing. Roughly 60% of the boxing coaching methods I use were developed as a direct result of knife, machete and stick fighting competition and drills.
I would like you to keep in mind that I have a secret punching method developed to help people with hips wider than their shoulders hit harder. So, if you get the contract to coach the Miss Bum Bum Brazil finalists, I would be honored to sacrifice some of my free time to assist you.
Anything for the art, after all.

I constantly amazed at how many interesting people are kicking around.
I am too. this website has brought me more information than I have put out, and contact with folks I never would have met.
