Out Of America: A Black Man Confronts Africa
By Keith Richburg.
Here is a quote, “Thank God my nameless ancestor, brought across the ocean in chains and leg irons, made it out alive,” he concludes. “Thank God I am an American.”
The author received death threats as a result of this book. He has been vilified as a 'coon' and a "traitor", and is largely ostracized by "his" people. Still, tis book went a long way in explaining the dynamic between Africans and African-Americans. My own experiences working in a North Dindustan hospital were eye-opening; the utter disdain that Africans displayed towards the North Dindustanis was blatant enough that, had a paleface said the things they said, they would have been instantly terminated.
