This is a scathing portrait of our most dictatorial American Autarch. Lincoln did not free his slaves, but freed Jeff Davis’ slaves—he just didn’t do it, yet we think he did. I really do like Lincoln’s Union as a proto-fascist state.
I like Lincoln even more after this video. The Daniel Day Lewis movie was so deifying it was pure fantasy, a patently unbelievable character. Sure Lincoln was a scumbag but so are all other politicians. No decent man seeks power over other men. But this Lincoln—the fact-based Lincoln—was a real ruler, a crushing, racist figure of arrogance, brutality and modernity. Lincoln was a bad dude and wanted to ethnically cleanse North America of blacks and Indians. We can be proud of that.

After the civil war there was reconstruction. What this meant was no one who fought for the Confederacy, which was everyone, was allowed to vote. So the whole of the South was run exactly like Detroit with Negro voters and armed guards to keep it that way. Hence the rise of the KKK to keep the whole South from falling off a cliff like Detroit. The North bought all the railroads or what was left as there was only 33% undamaged left. They charged around 30% more to move Southern goods. The prejudice against Southern goods can be readily appreciated by the state of steel production in Birmingham Alabama. Birmingham is the only place on planet Earth where all the materials, iron ore, coal, and lime for flux are readily available. The North bought the steel works and shut them down. After this the great forest of old growth trees in the South were all cut down and transported to the North to be finished.
The South was defeated in war and the place was then looted like a colony.
