The threat of getting pushed in front of a subway or commuter train by some thug or lunatic is a major problem these days. And not just in the USA. It’s happening regularly elsewhere in the world. Any thoughts on how to protect oneself from this sort of assault, James? They are especially puzzling since the overwhelming majority of them appear to be completely unprovoked. For the most part the victims appear to be targets of opportunity and the perpetrators appear to be delusional. Women are as prone to make such attacks as men.

However, I have developed the habit of grabbing on to people who touch me on the bus or at bus stops, just in case they are trying to push me in front of the bus or out the door into traffic, so that I can drag them screaming to Hell with me! This is a real fear, as my friend and one time employee Vinnie, once pushed a Dindu in front of a city bus to horrific effect. He cooled off in Sicily for 8 years.
Homeless woman arrested for pushing stranger into oncoming subway train in Manhattan
A 50-year-old woman was lucky to avoid serious injury after a vagrant shoved her into the side of an oncoming subway train in Manhattan, sources said Wednesday.
The homeless assailant, Patricia Abraham, 62, was busted Tuesday less than 24 hours after the unprovoked attack at the Prince St. station, sources said.
The victim was waiting on the northbound platform at about 4:50 p.m. Monday when Abraham hurled her into the train, sources said.
The victim — who suffered minor injuries to her shoulder, neck and back — hopped into a subway car to escape her attacker.

She got off at the 23rd St. station and reported the incident to authorities, sources said.
An eagle-eyed cop spotted Abraham on 14th St. Tuesday afternoon. The exact location of the arrest wasn’t immediately clear.
Abraham was charged with felony and misdemeanor assault, as well as reckless endangerment, sources said.
She was taken to Bellevue Hospital for evaluation. Her arraignment was expected to take place Wednesday night.
