In my lifetime the closest parallel to a black guy boxing in the 1800s would be a white kid rapping in Detroit in the 1990s. For this reason I have always detested whites who abandon the idea of boxing to blacks, every bit as much as Snoop Dog would detest blacks who suddenly declared that rapping was a white thing and blacks shouldn’t try and compete.
