Cold makes groups more aggressive—just as Robert E. Howard posited about the Hyboreans. This is an old model that was supposedly abandoned in the 1970s, but it has been recently confirmed by among others, the super smart brain nerd who makes Stefan look like an Irish bar patron at closing time.
There has been a 1-point decline in IQ per decade in the general genetic base over the past century.

From 1400 to1850 innovation and geniuses were increasing.
Since 1850 the trend has reversed. This is based on per capita innovations.
Humans went from 16 innovations per billion to 4 per billion currently.
1600 also saw 4 per billion.
1850 saw 16 per billion.
In 2016 now we have 4 per billion, marking a steeper decline than was the previous increase.
From my far lower brow experience as a coach and athlete this looks like a developmental plateau—that maybe we were near the ceiling of our potential.
I did like the metaphysics of truth and cheating as mechanisms for effecting the increase and decrease of innovation among humans.
To summarize the professor:
1. Genius and innovation arise in populations adapted to cold environments who then invade into warmer habitats, displacing those living under less challenging conditions.
2. This process results in up-breeding and an increase in heritable intelligence.
3. This process in turn results in less challenging survival conditions, resulting in high specificity low heritability intelligence and down-breeding.
The above is the very cycle of the rise and fall of civilizations promoted by fantasy writers 100 years ago, based on earlier works of scientific genius and finally confirmed by our high specificity low heritability minds…
