Canada's Gun Black Market - The Failure of Canada’s Gun Control Laws
“After Sunday’s shooting in Quebec and the capture of two terrorists, Canada is now facing one harsh reality: their gun control laws are creating a black market for firearms.”
“There is an illegal market for all manner of weapons that are openly available in the U.S,” Rob Gordon, a criminology professor at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, said.
“The link to organized crime is quite profound, so where you see organized crime in Quebec, B.C. and Ontario … they seem to have access to these types of weapons.”
“Quebec has the harshest gun laws in Canada, yet their gun per capita rate is much higher.
“Quebec has a higher rate of gun licenses per 100,000 residents than Ontario and British Columbia, but lower than most other provinces and territories, according to government statistics.”
Indeed Canada has a bigger black market for illegal guns than it wants to admit. There are still plenty of old guns around from times before many restrictions were implemented. Plus all kinds of guns are being smuggled in from the USA to supply Canada’s drug gangs. Word is that a 9mm Glock pistol you can buy for $500.00 USD in Michigan can be sold for $2000 USD in Toronto. Apparently much smuggling between Canada and the USA occurs through the Mohawk Indian reserve on the Saint Lawrence River and sandwiched between Ontario and Quebec Provinces and New York State:
(Contraband capital; The Akwesasne Mohawk reserve is a smuggling conduit, police say).
“Straddling the U.S.-Canada border, Akwesasne is Canada’s contraband capital, and the heart of the aboriginal tobacco industry that has flourished lately on a handful of reserves, producing a flood of cheap cigarettes so vast it might have stalled the decades-long slide in smoking rates. Police allege the cross-border conduit is being used, as well, by organized crime to smuggle marijuana back into the United States and harder drugs and firearms to Canada. Security experts have long fretted, too, about its potential for facilitating more ominous threats, like terrorism.”
Wyoming House Advances Three Pro-Gun Bills to limit gun free zones and expand concealed carry rights
“HOW ODD THAT MASSACRES MOSTLY HAPPEN IN "GUN-FREE ZONES"! When will the brain-dead Left wake up and draw the obvious conclusion?”
- John J. Ray (M.A.; Ph.D.) Brisbane, Australia, Gun Watch - Dissecting Leftism BlogSpot.
“The Wyoming House advanced three pro-gun bills on Monday, reports the Casper Star Tribune. The three bills – HB 136, HB 137 and HB 194 – aim to expand concealed carry in the state and limit gun free zones.”
“Unfortunately, there is only a small chance that these bills will pass successfully through both chambers. A number of representatives warned that, based on recent history, the pro-gun bills will likely be terminated in the Senate.”
