A quick-thinking unarmed Baltimore City school police officer wrestled a loaded handgun away from a 16-year-old student at Carver Vo-Tech High School, 11 News has learned.
Two students got into a fight around noon Tuesday in the school's cafeteria. Sources said the police officer approached the student after seeing him reach inside his pocket for the handgun.
Police recovered a loaded .32-caliber revolver at the scene.
Carver was placed on a temporary lockdown.
There's no word on what charges the student will face. Administrators told 11 News that students who bring firearms to school face permanent expulsion.
