Leftist virtue signaling by some fringe radical student group. Wisconsin was a free state from its founding. Attendance at the UW Madison was open to blacks more than a hundred years ago. So I don’t see how these students can seriously imagine that Wisconsin owes blacks anything on account of “slavery” or "segregation”. Wisconsin Governor Walker has kept tuition at state universities frozen for the past five years to make a collage education more accessible to all. But that’s not good enough for the radical Left. Crazy as this demand sounds they’re serious about it, so they won’t go away quietly.

The “Deep State” Leftists in Canada are as unconcerned about public safety as their counterparts in America.

Will Baker, AKA Vince Li, is being released because a Canadian court has judged he no longer poses “a significant threat to the public”. He will be safe and sane so long as he continues to take his psychotropic medication.

“Baker, a diagnosed schizophrenic, killed Tim McLean, a young carnival worker who was a complete stranger to Baker, in 2008. A year later he was found not criminally responsible due to mental illness.”

“Baker sat next to the 22-year-old McLean on the bus after the man smiled at him and asked how he was doing. Baker said he heard the voice of God telling him to kill the man or "die immediately." He repeatedly stabbed McLean while he fought for his life. As passengers fled the bus, Baker continued stabbing and mutilating the body before he was arrested. He severed McLean's head, displaying it to some of the passengers outside the bus, witnesses said.”

Schizophrenics often go off their medication because the drugs frequently have unpleasant side-effects with continued use, such as dry mouth, hand tremors, trouble with mental focus, inability to achieve orgasm and so on. Additionally, after they have been sane and lucid for a number of years, some schizophrenics will imagine they are "cured” and no longer need to take the medication. But there is no cure for schizophrenia, so far there is only treatment to keep the afflicted person from becoming psychotic. Finally there are some schizophrenics who will go off their meds because they enjoy being crazy. Most are tormented by the delusions, the disordered thinking , the depression, the voices in their heads and the hallucinations, but to a few it’s the ultimate trip. Fills you with energy. Empowering even. The craziest person in the room usually gets their way after all.

As the experts tell us the majority of schizophrenics are not homicidal, or even unusually violent. However, you can’t tell just by looking at them, can you? Even the psychiatrists can give us no guarantees. So there’s the rub.

Since the 1970’s the courts in the USA have judged that it’s not against the law to be insane. That crazy people should not be locked up any more than sane people if they haven’t done anything wrong. Therefore it is difficult to have a mentally ill person involuntarily confined unless and until they have broken the law. Evidently the courts in Canada see the matter the same way.

I don’t get this whole business anymore that most of the rest of you. I mean if a “sane” person committed murder and then promised a court he would never commit murder again, would they let him out of prison? Yet we are supposed to believe that someone who cut someone else’s head off in a completely unprovoked attack on a crowded bus will keep his promise to continue taking his medicine so he’ll never be inspired to do anything like that again. Obviously Leftists like the ones sitting on the Canadian court are unable to process and evaluate real danger. But they sure get triggered by things that do not matter, don’t they?
