Asylum-seekers sneak across because even if they are caught, they can make a claim in Canada; if they make a claim at a border crossing, they are turned away.”

The nine people were Sudanese who had been living illegally in Delaware for the past two years. It would appear they fled to Canada because they feared being deported back to Sudan by the Trump Administration. So why are illegal aliens suddenly so concerned that U.S. immigration laws will be enforced? It is interesting that this incident did not occur at a regular border crossing point and yet the RCMP was ready and waiting just on the other side of the line to receive the "escapees”. A photographer from Reuters News Service was even on the scene to record the drama. Who tipped them all off that the refugees were coming? Whose idea was it to stage this piece of street theater? For that matter the RCMP does not regularly patrol the border. That is normally the job of the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA). .

Has the RCMP been tasked to handle the asylum seekers crossing the border or were the Canadian officers misidentified by the press? Is this Leftist virtue signaling on the part of the Canadian Government? Certainly one of those things that makes you go Hmmm…Well anyway thanks for taking the freeloaders off our hands Canada.

Nine people flee U.S. border patrol to seek asylum in Canada

Apparently Californians aren’t as mellow and laid back as they’re supposed to be. They still need to cool off after a gun purchase, eh? The 9th U.S. Circuit Court upheld California's 10-day waiting period against a challenge that it is unconstitutional.

During the Rodney King Riots in 1992 when it became apparent that the police would not confront the rioters or protect the populace, many Californians decided it was time to buy a gun for the first time in their lives. When they went to a gun store they learned then that California had a ten-day waiting period on firearms purchases and therefore they wouldn’t be able to take the gun home with them the same day they paid for it to protect themselves. Those people were astonished to learn this as they had always heard on the news how ridiculously easy it was for anyone at all to buy a gun. Not legally in a store at least. Surprise!

My own state had a two-day cooling off period for handgun purchases since the mid 1970’s until about 2014 when it was repealed by a Republican controlled legislature. the cooling off period was a “feel good” law that was intended to discourage impulsive acts of violence committed with a handgun. However, there was no empirical evidence that a single crime was ever prevented by the waiting period. In fact in the forty some years since the waiting period law was first enacted violent crime of every sort skyrocketed in the state’s major city, as drug gangs awash in cash and able to buy all the guns they wanted came to rule the inner city. No gang-banger ever had to wait two days before taking possession of a handgun he bought illegally. So all the waiting period ever did was inconvenience law-abiding gun purchasers.
