Many of the You Tube comments on this battle address one thing that bothered me a lot when seeing it, which was foul blows against the back of the head of downed fighters and multiple men working on one downed man.
-They volunteered
-They have safety officers, albeit they double as artillery spotters!
-The danger to lone and downed fighters is intended to encourage group cohesion.
-I have been in about a dozen group fights with weapons and can tell you that there is a special feeling to it, higher stakes. You do not go as hard as you do in one-on-one because you have to keep an eye out for the guy next to you and the guy that might have downed him.
-This is practice for real street violence and also a cultural cohesion ritual to bring back together a nation of men who were atomized by communism and alcoholism.
What is my ultimate opinion, if I’m King and guys want to do this?
Do it on a field, away from noncombatants. Don’t kill anybody: If a man dies or is rendered unable to work, his team [the guys that hung him out to die] spends his death day every year doing charity work and the team who killed him pays his wife or family his annual income on his birthday, forever until you dissolve your team, which is hopefully never.
If you follow this rule, you can have your battles. But if you do this shit on the street you’ll be shot down like dogs by the police.
I’d like to see this in stick-fighting with coifed hockey helmets to protect the spine. It already exists in armored combat.
"...If you follow this rule, you can have your battles. But if you do this shit on the street you’ll be shot down like dogs by the police..."
I have no problems with that. I have real problems with the Russian attacks where they went into the town square and just started attacking everyone. I see no difference in this then I do a mass of Negros riding around and attacking people.
