I make no bones about the fact that I live on White Avenue—where else would I live in this town?

I live on the west end of White Avenue between Walther Boulevard and Harford Road. This is the territory of a crew of car mobile thugs who have almost accidentally done me in and have also unwittingly saved me.

The apartment that they dragged this blood donning sprinkler system out of is on the hilly mid stretch of White Avenue above Belair Road. This is a very dangerous area, where I and friends have been attacked numerous times. I once found a dead rat here with a smashed smart phone on its chest. There are two gang sets here, one based in this larger complex and another based in a small brick-faced unit behind the ridge and next to a fenced field at the dead end of a side street off the White Avenue Axis.

The lower end of White Avenue is claimed by a fourth crew, the kids that chased me through up the hill and over the ridge about 18 months ago. When I was 18 I used to live 100 yards away from where this kid got shot.

Police were also called at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday to a shooting in Northeast Baltimore. A 24-year-old man had been shot multiple times in the third floor landing of his apartment building in the 4000 block of White Avenue, police said.

He was taken to a hospital, where police said he was listed in critical condition Wednesday morning.

Police said the man had just arrived home when a masked gunman attempted to rob and then shot the victim. The suspect fled. Police continue to search for witnesses.
