EDMONTON - A wanted man walking along the highway in Leduc County with a loaded rifle was arrested by an off duty Edmonton police officer.
At 3 a.m. Wednesday morning, Leduc RCMP got a call from an off duty Edmonton police officer – still wearing his full uniform as he was driving home – saw a suspicious man walking on the side of the road near Highway 625 and Range Road 232 carrying a rifle and a duffel bag.
After calling the RCMP, the officer stopped and — after a short physical altercation — arrested the man.
The RCMP seized a loaded SKS rifle the man had been carrying as well as a loaded Marlin rifle, ammunition and a bow from the duffel bag.
Investigators believe the Marlin rifle had been stolen from a vehicle in Leduc on Jan. 24.
The man was already wanted on a warrant in Edmonton.
Tuan Dinh Anh Chu, 33, is facing nearly a dozen charges including possession of a weapon obtained by crime, two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, two charges of unauthorized possession of a weapon, two charges of failing to comply with recognizance and another charge for resisting arrest.
Chu was scheduled to appear in Leduc provincial court on Thursday.

"...10,000-weapon arsenal including howitzers, machine guns and grenades intended for the hands of terrorists in Europe..."
Holy smokes look at that. They're saying howitzers??? Is that mortar rounds with the yellow tips?
A year or two ago the found a container full of shotguns. I wonder if the invasion of Europe is not some dufus plot. Could the Jews be that stupid? Or the Muslims? I've always found it hard to believe the story they tell us about refuges moving into Europe. These guys have cell phones and many have nice clothes. Where did they get the money for these things??
