Father of man charged in South Shore deaths was killed day before
“Maurice Harris’ father — 37-year-old Jerry Jacobs, who had nearly four dozen arrests, including two for murder — was gunned down on a sidewalk in the South Shore neighborhood around 11:15 p.m. on March 29. The next day, his son appears to have been out for revenge, police say. Around 3:30 p.m. on March 30, the 19-year-old Harris fatally shot four men at a restaurant within a mile of where his father’s blood was spilled. Police said Wednesday that the shootings are the product of an ongoing gang war and that “a reasonable person would believe” they are connected. They also said that a double homicide in South Shore later on March 30 might be related to the restaurant killings. If so, it would be a staggering series of events: 24 hours, three shootings, seven dead, one gang war. And, so far, one arrest: Harris, who was ordered held without bail on Wednesday after being charged with four counts of first-degree murder in connection with the quadruple murder at Nadia Fish and Chicken, near 75th and Coles.”

Profit on the minds of trio when murder was planned: Prosecution
Nick Nero, Martino Caputo and Rabih Alkhalil conspired to murder a fellow cocaine dealer so they could steal the dead man’s drugs and divide the enormous profit, a jury heard Wednesday.
Crown attorney Maurice Gillezeau outlined the prosecution’s allegations against Nero, Caputo, Alkhalil and alleged hitman Dean Wiwchar in the June 18, 2012 shooting of Johnnie Raposo.
Nero, 40, of Niagara Falls; Caputo, 43, of Toronto; Wiwchar, 31, of Vancouver; and Alkahil, 29; have pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
Raposo, 35, was watching a European Cup soccer game at the Sicilian Sidewalk Cafe when an assassin — disguised in a construction outfit — “walked up to him and shot him four times in the head at close range,” said Gillezeau.
