Shocking indeed. Back in the late 19th Century the Indians of the northern plains referred to the U.S.- Canadian border as the "medicine line”. This was because that imaginary line possessed a seemingly magic power that kept the Blue-coat soldiers of the U.S. Army from crossing it in pursuit of Indian tribes. This magic was apparently controlled by the Red-coat soldiers of the Canadian Northwest Mounted Police. This gave the Mounties leverage in their subsequent negotiations with the Indians.
Unfortunately in the early 21st Century the U.S.- Mexican border has no magic to keep out people who mean Americans harm. Something the God-Emperor Trump is just beginning to address as the country’s border and immigration laws are being enforced for the first time in decades.
