Where Are America’s 15 Million Psychopaths?
© 2013 James LaFond
NOV/8/13
The following two lists are adapted from the book The Wisdom of Psychopaths by Kevin Dutton.
The Ten Professions Most Favored by Psychopaths
1. CEO
2. Lawyer
3. Media
4. Sales
5. Surgeon
6. Journalist
7. Cop
8. Clergy
9. Chef [What are these guys doing, molesting their interns?]
10. Civil Servant [an oxymoronic parasite if ever there was one]
The top eight professions afford the psycho with a large amount of creative control over others. Keep in mind that virtually all politicians are lawyers. Remember that in pre-modern times, military establishments were run by the same type of people who head corporations today. Today’s general is more like a football coach who agrees to kiss copious amounts of ass than any of the famous generals of yesteryear.
The Ten Professions Least Practiced by Psychopaths
1. Care aid [Yes, changing bed pans is a drag compared to snuffing teenage hitchhikers.]
2. Nurse
3. Therapist
4. Crafts
5. Beautician [I can well image these are often the abused grooming slaves of media icons.]
6. Charity worker
7. Teacher
8. Artist
9. Doctor [who, presumably declines to cut people up]
10. Accountant
I would make one observation about this list, that these people are often employed in a subservient capacity to the psycho professions.

This explains why the world is so fucked up, eh?

I was left scratching my head. The lists are largely no-brainers [except for the psycho chefs I suppose] if you are looking to nail don manipulative people who lack empathy. I don't know how the author came up with the list. But I think we could have sat around and arrived at largely the same conclusions.

My guess is these two lists rate as symptomatic. I have seen data that indicates psychopathy has doubled in the past decade for instance. Here is a thought: what about the current addiction with psychopaths in movies and TV? This would include vampires right? I was at Barnes & Nobles last night and they have an entire psycho-serial killer section.

Another thought: maybe the serial killers [who have multiple very popular network TV crime shows dedicated to them] and other violent criminals are just the failures of their kind. I kind of like the idea [as a sci-fi writer] of the evolution of a psychopathic branch of humanity, a ruling class for the end times; another figure on the lineal 'ascent of man' illustration that my science teacher used to have taped on the closet door in her classroom. Just another uplifting speculation. Thanks for stopping by. I'm always thrilled when people who are smarter than I am check in.
