Warning shot: Ticket to prison? -Texas
Believe it or not firing a warning shot can get you prosecuted for assault or reckless conduct in many jurisdictions. That seems counter-intuitive of course, since we were all brought up watching TV and movie dramas where the protagonist fires a warning shot in an attempt to scare off an adversary and deescalate a potentially lethal confrontation (heck, all the “A-Team” did was fire warning shots). However, that is not the way the authorities tend to see it these days. So be warned.
